Wedding flowers are expensive and here’s why…

Congratulations on your Engagement.  We’d love you to consider us for your styling and florals team!

Wedding flowers form a major part of your wedding day! Not only do they add to the overall look and feel in a big way but they will also be captured in your heart, memories and print forever! It’s the first thing your guests will see, before anything else and sets the scene for your Day! Flowers and greenery arranged at the ceremony, adorned over stair cases or arranged on tables, they create an ambience and atmosphere that nothing else can.

Wedding flowers certainly aren’t cheap, but you really do get what you pay for and when working with us, we’ll help you to

* Design and develop your vision

* Make some of those difficult styling decisions

* Suggest recommendations to save you money

*  Feel more confident during the planning process

When you Contact Us to share with your Dream Day wishes, we’ll do all that we can to help make those dreams come true.

Below is information about how your Wedding Day Florals and Styling Budget works at Driftwood Blue Floral.

Do you have a flower & styling budget?

For some, the costs associated with having a beautifully designed ceremony and reception on your wedding day can be a difficult decision, yet for others it’s a no brainer. What it really comes down to is how much you want to invest in your day to create the overall experience and what you are prepared to pay. It’s important to refine your ideas so you can think about your budget.

Flowers and styling costs can vary significantly.   Generally, florals & styling costs can sit anywhere between $2000 to $15,000, so it’s always a good idea to work out where you sit in that range.  To help, I’ve provided an range of costings for general Wedding items below. This will help you to figure out where you might sit in that range.

  • Bridal Bouquet $250 – $450+
  • Bridesmaid Bouquet $200 – $250+
  • Buttonhole $40-$45
  • Corsages lapel/wrist $45 – $65
  • Table Floral arrangements $85 – $150+
  • Arbour Arrangement $450 – $650+
  • Bridal Table Centrepiece – $300 – $450+
  • Cake Flowers $85 – $150+
  • Flower Crown $75 – $95+
  • Add on-site styling, set up and pack down costs and delivery fees

As a general rule of thumb, it is recommended to set aside 10% of your overall Wedding Budget to Wedding flowers or even considering a budget of around $2500 to $3500 would be enough to have florals for your Wedding party and to create a beautiful display at your reception. Obviously this amount will really depend on how much you are going to need, what additional florals and styling you are looking for!

Why are fresh flowers so expensive?

Well, to start with you aren’t simply buying a bunch of flowers in plastic! The process for wedding florals begins on the day you start to engage a floral stylist (like us). Rather than walking into a supermarket where everything is laid out in pre-packaged bundles, different providers each have their own style, ideas and designs. Therefore associated costs for providing fresh flowers, designing to the style you love, consultations, development of your floral collection, are all included amongst other things.

Prices can also vary from season to season and specific blooms like peonies or imported roses can blow out the budget quite a bit.  The cost of the flowers alone in their raw state forms only a small part of the pricing, there are many other factors to consider in pricing to our clients.  These range from cost of materials and overheads to transportation, preparation and conditioning, design consultation, knowledge and expertise, time and labour, on-site styling and design, set up and pack down and our ongoing personalised service that’s just all part of the service.  You may be shocked but a standard Wedding can take anywhere from 15-30 hours from start to finish and the bulk of the work is done the night before.   Then there is the additional time and added costs associated with styling, delivery or set up on your Wedding Day.

It all has to be done within tight timeframes to ensure your fresh blooms are at their best for your special day. There are many hours of preparation behind the scenes you won’t see before your wedding day. Including late nights and early mornings and additional staff.  All making sure everything is right for you on your special day!

How to choose your stylist

You are looking for someone you can trust and who can always be there for you along the way. Ensure you’re getting ongoing communication and engagement throughout the process. How well your stylist does this for you, is also a reflection of their overall services and value to you. Also consider what you need and the things you are looking for. Do you need someone hands on, responsive, creative, personable, easy to get along with, relaxed or someone who is intense, insanely experienced, highly professional and also strong in their ideas and opinions?

Our previous and current clients will tell you the same thing about us. We are with you every step of the way and are always relaxed, responsive, personable but also professional! We believe these are the four most important things you need when choosing a floral stylist, and ultimately it then comes down to their style and design.

Who do you like the look of? Who can you most relate to? Can you meet them in person? How involved will they be along the way?

At the end of the day, the more organisation and planning that can be done for you and the better this is, the better more supported you’ll feel and better the outcome will be! The next time you ask for a price, make sure you find out about all the additional value that is included.

The value that we bring to help you create your dream day is worth every cent!
